I thought about holes when I made the first one since they would be a good representation of the gutters. But I wasn't sure I could solve it if I did that, and didn't pursue it. But yeah - now that I've solved vroy's version, I can see that it could have been done!

It would be slightly harder if you replaced the fragiles in jomegat's version by holes instead of walls, but not much.
